friendcrumbs is built privacy-first. By default, everything stays on your device and in your private iCloud, and we do not collect, see, store, sell, or share your data. There is no account to create, and no analytics or tracking. One optional feature, off until you turn it on, can send a note's text to a server to structure it - see AI capture below.
Everything you put into friendcrumbs — the people you add, their notes, photos, reminders, and connections — is stored on your device and synced through your own private iCloud account (Apple's CloudKit private database). That data is end-to-end encrypted by Apple and is accessible only to you. The developer has no ability to access it.
AI capture turns a short note you write into structured fields. By default it runs entirely on your device using Apple's on-device intelligence, and your text is never sent anywhere.
For a few languages Apple's on-device model cannot handle (such as Czech and Bulgarian), or on devices without Apple Intelligence, you can opt in to cloud capture. When it is enabled and you choose to structure a note, that note's text is sent over an encrypted connection to our server and on to a third-party AI provider (DeepSeek) that turns it into fields; the result is returned to your device. The text is used only to perform that structuring for you - we do not retain it on our server, and it is never used to advertise to you or to build a profile. Cloud capture is off until you enable it, and you can turn it off at any time in Settings.
If you choose to import a contact, friendcrumbs reads the details only to pre-fill a person's card on your device. Contact data is never transmitted to us. You can decline Contacts access and use the app fully.
Photos you add to a person are stored on your device and in your private iCloud only. They are never uploaded to us.
Reminders use local notifications scheduled on your device. No push servers are involved.
friendcrumbs Pro is an auto-renewable subscription handled entirely by Apple through the App Store. We never receive your name, card, or payment details — Apple manages billing and provides us only anonymous, aggregate sales information.
None. friendcrumbs contains no analytics SDKs, no advertising, no third-party trackers, and does not use the Advertising Identifier (IDFA). Nothing is used to track you across apps or websites.
friendcrumbs is rated 4+ and collects no personal information from anyone, including children.
You can delete any person, note, or photo in the app at any time. Deleting the app and removing its data from iCloud removes everything. Because we never hold your data, there is nothing for us to delete on our side.
